Unbelievable Food Hack: Cook Salmon in Minutes
I love my Tovala Oven and I certainly love when I can cook Salmon in it. You can also use this recipe with a regular oven as well. You only need a few things to cook this Salmon Dish. I use lemon, butter, lemon pepper, minced garlic, and broccoli.
Today, I am going to show you how to cook salmon for one person using a Tovala oven. However, you can easily cook it in a conventional oven as well. I will provide the instructions for both methods. It's quick and so very easy!
To start, I use sockeye salmon that I get from Butcher Box. It's frozen, so I defrost it overnight and let it come to room temperature before cooking. It is not recommended to cook salmon directly from frozen as it can result in uneven cooking and a less desirable texture. It is best to defrost the salmon first before cooking it.
To defrost frozen salmon, you can place it in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight, or you can use the cold water method by placing the salmon in a sealed plastic bag and submerging it in a bowl of cold water. Change the water every 30 minutes to ensure that the salmon thaws evenly. Once the salmon is completely thawed, you can proceed with your preferred cooking method.

If you are short on time and need to cook salmon quickly, you can use a microwave to defrost it, but be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for defrosting frozen food. Additionally, be sure to cook the salmon immediately after defrosting it in the microwave to avoid any potential food safety issues.
I also prepare a little bit of butter, lemon pepper, oil, minced garlic (you can use fresh garlic too), and lemon juice. Additionally, I have some broccoli florets to cook alongside the salmon. This is a very healthy and delicious combination.
Both broccoli and salmon are considered superfoods due to their numerous health benefits.
Broccoli is an excellent source of vitamins C, K, and A, as well as folate and fiber. It also contains phytochemicals, which are plant compounds that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Studies have shown that consuming broccoli can help improve digestion, reduce the risk of certain types of cancer, and promote heart health.
Salmon is an oily fish that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, high-quality protein, and vitamins B12 and D. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for maintaining heart and brain health, reducing inflammation, and improving cognitive function. Studies have also shown that eating salmon can help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease, and improve overall cardiovascular health.
When consumed together, broccoli and salmon can provide a balanced and nutrient-dense meal that is high in vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. Additionally, they can complement each other's flavors and textures, making for a delicious and satisfying meal.
I melt the butter first, then take a porcelain-clad pan and spray some cooking oil on the bottom for easy clean-up. Alternatively, you can use foil at the bottom. Then, I wash the salmon and brush it with butter to help the seasoning stick. I season both sides of the salmon with lemon pepper, add some minced garlic to the remaining butter, and mix in a tablespoon of lemon juice. Next, I place the broccoli florets around the fish and drizzle the garlic butter mixture over the salmon and broccoli.
If you're using a Tovala oven, set it to cook for 12 minutes, and press start. For a conventional oven, preheat it to 450°F and bake for 12 minutes.
When the salmon is ready, use oven mitts and a trivet to take it out of the oven, as it will be sizzling hot. You can serve it with some lemon wedges on the side for additional flavor.
Here are some additional tips:
- Add some fresh herbs: Consider adding some fresh herbs like dill or parsley to the recipe. They can add a burst of flavor and complement the lemon and garlic nicely.
- This salmon also goes well with a side salad, risotto, rice or a glass of white wine can be a great complement to the meal.
